had the same issue with my in-laws family (my family never did lists, heck its so easy to buy for me---any cute stuffed toy, especially Steiffs--that they never HAD to ask, though they last few years my mom was getting us gifts some were...rather...interesting to say the least--still have that jar of buttons too). It was when we all went our separate ways that it got more complicated, and then, just too bloody expensive to ship gifts (learned that when I lived in ideho and shipped my nieces xmas gifts for almost twice what I had paid for them

--next year they got gift cards!)...and then we all got.....old

and just stopped exchanging (except my one sister).

its not just laziness--its about getting their work done quickly so they can go home faster, leads to sloppiness and such....if you dont ring the bell, you dont have to wait for the person to answer, if you dont have to wait for an answer, you can get back on your truck faster and to the next 'drop' faster....even if you dont wait for the person- after you ring--you saved yourself a few seconds not ringing the bell, thus ensuring a quicker retreat......just sad.

Well thank goodness it is Friday. That is one life problem solved I guess.

Getting through the week. 3/4 check mark. Just have to make it through the 9 hours today and I'm good...

Students seem to mirror the laziness of their parents/elders. Which makes perfect sense. Monkey see, monkey do. The amount of kids that just give up when they don't immediately get something is astronomical...

Yes, kids mirror what they see--either at home or school, and tv.

I think we should not go to the parenting area as I have a huge stack of soap boxes for that!

I, too, am glad last week is over...now I can nap for the next few days (I have NO plans for them other than a pillow and blankee

...and a nice cute snuggly stuffed toy).

I did. It was rough for a while, really it was, but made it through in the end. Now we just have 5 days left before 2 weeks off! Soooo close!

Ya I have a pretty big soap box for that as well... Though from an educator stand point, not a parental one.

Saturday, sleeping in! Till 6:50. Then up and off to the store to get grocerys. In and out! Woo! Took all of 20 minutes because no one was there! Love it!

yeah, used to like going to the store when there would be almost no one there--though many of the stores by me are not 24 hour ones and dont open until 8am (which is a waste since I am usually back in bed by then

....used to like going to the store at 1am, was a blast!)

being domestic again today, got laundry going and then yes, another nap planned

gotta loves saturdays sometimes (especially with hubby out for the day---get more done without him here

)

only one more week, then your mrs is back again too, right? (or you are visiting her---) so either way is a win win.

Lots of people are probably on it with us.

It is nice having stores open 24/7, though I use it more for the early morning shopping than the late night shopping. Seems safer that way.

Did laundry last week, so I'm good for a couple more weeks.

I'll be heading up there in about a week and a half. My brother is coming in for that week so I'm taking part of the week to see him then I'll head up.

I definitely needed more sleep at that point. I had been back from the store for 20 mins by that point. Took a nap this afternoon to prove I needed more. Never enough of it anymore it seems.

/agree naps are my favorite part of the day.

only one more week then off for you pwnd!...only a few more days, are you counting the hours yet

there are a few stores here open 24, but most of them are really small or dont have the stuff I want (store right near us is 24/7 but I stopped going there because they never have what I need!)

now I have to do the laundry--got one load done on the weekend, hubby did 2 ...now I have to do my clothes.

Yup 3 days left. Getting close. I can't really count the hours since yesterday I was at school until 7:20pm and tonight I was there until about 4:50pm... So pulling longer days and might have to again the next couple days. So no counting yet...

Stores are only as good as the products they carry. If they don't have what people need they won't survive long.

Didn't help KMart out in the long run. Kept them afloat for a while but they eventually went under as well. Didn't help that Martha Stewart got tossed in jail.

yeah I guess you are correct on that one.

and its getting cold again (though I cant and wont complain about the gas prices

)....and winter is almost here (solstice)....soon days will start to get longer again...and we can hope the weather folks are wrong (as usual) and that it will be a mild winter here, and california can have all the rain they can handle (and our helping of it too).

Yes it is... Only supposed to be 24 for the high today... Sigh, we had it coming. The cold weather wasn't going to hold off forever. And I am definitely hoping for a mild winter. I would like some Fridays off at the end of the semester for once!

got everything done (well almost--still have another load of laundry to do, and to fold the one still in the dryer

) I wanted to ...even helped out a few people today (went out to run some errands--at one store lady before me left her wallet on the checkout area--we caught her before she left, and at the last grocery stop I helped the old man in front of me with his basket....gee I was good today, hope santa will be nice to me

It was a long week. Glad we made it through. Now 2 weeks off before the downhill portion of the year.

I still need to do laundry. By the time I would have been able to get to the bank today for quarters it was closed. Guess I'll have to wait till Monday now. Spent the morning wrapping gifts and such. Took forever... And I seriously suck at wrapping gifts. Like really badly... Oh well. They are wrapped.

you sound like my husband..he just uses lots of tape (and TONS of paper) to wrap--I guess being an art major (and living in japan for 2 years) helped me learn to wrap (and my mom was good at it too). Guess maybe its a girl thing

after new years you have to look forward to ...fridays off? think I would much rather have spring break than just fridays off. (after a month or so my body just needs a vacation--one that a long weekend wont fix)....but think of it this way--you are at about the halfway point! (and you made it this far woot!)

I don't use a ridiculous amount of paper, but I use more than my wife does. She is much better at it.

I would rather have a spring break than Fridays off but since I don't have a choice, I'll be happy with Fridays off so long as we don't use too many snow days.

Wife called me this morning. Her grandmother passed away today. She has had cancer for almost 2 years now and was given initially only 3-6 months to live. So she had done well, but still not any easier...

ouch....my sympathies (my aunt died friday after thanksgiving--so I understand. She had been sick for a while, but when I visited her the week before seemed to be getting better....was hard to go to yet another funeral this year, and then help with the estate....sad all the way around<---why I am not feeling the festive spirit this year).

Holidays are hard enough without having to deal with that (my dad died the last day of november my freshman year of college...and now my aunt-- and my hubbys oldest brother died on new years...so not really a happy time anymore for both our families).
